Dry Ice Run – Phenom II X4 955 BE4 Comments By SlappacloseAuthor: SlappaName: Matthew Sembinelli Email: matthew.sembinelli@gmail.com Site:http://slappablog.wordpress.com About: Hardware Enthusiast, and OverclockerSee Authors Posts (17) on May 30, 2009
Dry Ice is composed of frozen CO2 that is at a very chilly temperature of -78.5C. This frozen CO2 sublimes at atmospheric pressure, making it one of the best cold substances to use for extreme overclocking.
Yesterday, a friend and I (he goes by the alias “Addies”) did a fantastic 9 hour bench run.
The system setup was as follows:
Phenom II X4 955 BE
Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P
G.Skill Pi 1333MHz 7-7-7-18-1T
CF 4850s, GPU0: 700/1075MHz GPU1: 790/1100MHz
HX520w Corsair PSU, 300w Bestec for ...

I was recently offered a choice by a certain individual……
You take the blue pill and it’s over, you wake up tomorrow and continue life as you know it and you believe what you want to believe.
You take the Green pill and I show you a world you never could have imagined in your wildest dreams where limits and boundaries are meant to be broken.
I obviously chose the Green pill
I will save the long drawn out speech for after the results…..So lets get right to the results...
Phenom II AM3 Overclocking Essentials75 Comments By SlappacloseAuthor: SlappaName: Matthew Sembinelli Email: matthew.sembinelli@gmail.com Site:http://slappablog.wordpress.com About: Hardware Enthusiast, and OverclockerSee Authors Posts (17) on May 28, 2009
Ever wondered why you can’t get past 3.6GHz on that new Phenom II? Some may claim it is a bad chip, but I for one, can guarantee you that is almost always not the case.
I have been overclocking this chip for weeks and studying how it acts while doing so. I may not be an AMD engineer, or an electrical engineer, but here is what I have found:
1) Voltage
People always repeat the same/similar phrases about these chips “Up the voltage, AMD chips are tanks and can take it!” In fa...
AMD Overclocking Event In Texas, My Personal Experience2 Comments By SlappacloseAuthor: SlappaName: Matthew Sembinelli Email: matthew.sembinelli@gmail.com Site:http://slappablog.wordpress.com About: Hardware Enthusiast, and OverclockerSee Authors Posts (17) on May 26, 2009
Hey guys, thought I’d share. I had a similar article on my personal blog, but I have added more content just for techreaction.net. Hope you like it.
AMD hosted a fantastic event for the prime purpose of overclocking the Phenom II’s to the utter limits.
Records were shattered, the liquid helium and nitrogen kept flowing, overclockers worked around the clock, camera’s flashed and filmed, and processors and motherboards were killed in the process.
I had the lucky opportunity to attend t...
OCZ PC3-12800 1600LVAM4GK AMD Optimized Kit Reviewed!11 Comments By ChewcloseAuthor: ChewName: Brian McLachlan Email: wmdieselmc26@cox.net Site:http:// About:See Authors Posts (8) on May 19, 2009
I recently received a specially tuned set of ram for the AM3 platform from OCZ Technology.
What this means is they are guaranteed to work on your AM3 platform and users do not have to buy an extra stick of ram in a 3×2g kit that may or may not work well at rated speeds and or timings.
Essentially, OCZ was nice enough to cater to the AMD crowd and take the guess work out of the equation for AMD users.
The stars of the review.

MSI 790FX-GD70 and Gigabyte 790FXT-UD5P

G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI DDR II Reviewed on AM2+1 Comment By ChewcloseAuthor: ChewName: Brian McLachlan Email: wmdieselmc26@cox.net Site:http:// About:See Authors Posts (8) on May 18, 2009
I recently received a set of G.Skill F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI DDR2 to test out on AMD’s AM2+ platform. According to G.Skill, each kit is hand selected from the batch and represent G.Skill’s highest bin Powerchip IC. Exciting… =)
I’m not very big on chit chat so lets get right to the testing after seeing a shot of the ram.
System Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
Asus M4A79 Deluxe
G.Skill F2-9600CL5D-4GPI (1200 5-5-5-15 2.1v)
PC P&C 1200w Turbocool

The Antivirus Hysteria4 Comments By OPFORcloseAuthor: OPFORName: Jon Kean Email: jgkean@gmail.com Site:http://www.techreaction.net About:See Authors Posts (1) on May 8, 2009
I’m not going to tell you not to use antivirus (Though I don’t use any myself). I’m not going to present some kind of conspiracy theory about how the antivirus companies partner with the virus makers to create demand for their products (Though I’m nearly cynical enough to believe it). Ever heard of the” Conficker” virus? If you read the news, you have. And what does it do? How do you get it? Has that been clearly published in the news? Nope. Wh...

EVGA X58 Classified Takes i7 920 Over 5.3GHz4 Comments By 3oh6closeAuthor: 3oh6Name: Jody Bailey Email: 3ohhh6@gmail.com Site:http://www.3oh6.com About: Being born and raised in northern Canada, you could say I was prepped for benching "cold" my whole life.See Authors Posts (6) on May 3, 2009
It was almost exactly a month ago that I took the Classified and its 965 occupant over the 5GHz mark and under seven minutes in 32M SuperPi. Well today, I took the baby nephew of the 965 – an Intel Core i7 920 – well over 5GHz and even further below seven minutes in 32M Super Pi.
The trip started innocently enough with a locally purchased i7 920 sporting the date code 3845B026. Soon after some quick air testing, however, things took a turn towards the crazy track with the idea to t...
