Received this board a few days back
but only had time to test it yesterday.

msi 785GM-E65
…o0oh…140W cpu ready… hehe…
This micro ATX board uses an AMD 785G w/SB710 chipset.
I remembered SB710s support ACC by default.
Feeling hopeful…
The last AM3 board I had was the 790FX-GD70, and a stellar one by far.
Hope this little one performs close to its ATX sister.
Heatpipe linking the NB and PWMsink together.
5 SataII ports should be sufficient for the regular user I guess.
4 DDR3 ram slots.
Each channel distinguished by a different colour. (black & blue)
They are located pretty near to the socket area. (Space constrain?)

A very rich I/O layout I must say.
PS/2, SPDIF, Analog, DVI, HDMI, E-Sata, 1394, GB lan and 6 USB ports and not forgetting the audio ports.
Not bad…
Test components used :
AM3 X2 550 BE
Corsair XMS3 Classic 2×2GB 1600mhz C8
WD 320 AAKS
HD4200 IGP
Corsair TX750W
TRU12E Copper LE w/12cm fan
XP Pro & Vista Ultimate 32bit
Earlier, I mentioned that the ram slots are alittle close to the socket.
If your cooler’s positioning is similar to mine, horizontally,
the first slot might be blocked.
First, some HTT scaling.
In only a few tries, I managed a 334mhz HTT stable for a 32m run. ![]()
Not too bad at all. I think this is also my chip’s limit as it wouldn’t boot past 340.
Next, the important thing.
Does it unlocks?
In bios, under CellMenu,
I set EC firmware to Special and ACC to Auto like what I did on the GD70 before.
Upon boot up, in windows.
Did a rough Prime to see if it runs.
There, a dualcore chip just boosted to a quad on a 785G board.
Now, some overclocks of the chip while unlocked.
Results are pretty good considering that HTT is past 300+mhz.
What about its HD4200 IGP?
Here’s a stock performance run
Lets overlock it.
Its using an Elpida DJ-E 128mb chip for its sideport memory.
This should take 1700mhz easily.
We also got the IGP to 880mhz.
Results :
Not bad…
If you have an entry lvl 2400/3400 card,
You can still employ hybrid crossfire with it.
Too bad I didn’t have any with me.
:p
Anyway, it still managed a slightly over 4ghz for a final screenshot on air.
Yay!
If you noticed, the HT-Link speed varies from screenshot to screenshot.
I think a bios update or two should iron things out.
What can I say?
Indeed its a pretty neat little board.
Looks good, well thought out layout & expansion slots and
it clocks well.
Okay then, that’s about all for now.
Thanks for checking out my read.

Nice results indeed. It would be nice to see how it oc’s with a multi-locked cpu (non-BE), perhaps you have an athlon x2 or x4-620 in da house….???
Hey, thanks alot.
Yeah, its a pity I don’t have any other proc with me other than my 550BE.
Nice clocks:) seems you got a cherry board. I had bought the same board and intended to post a blog on it with the 620 but I am limited to ~260 Ht ref. I have tried two cpu’s, AthII 620 and PhII 905e the 260 takes 308 HT ref on 2 other boards and the 905e runs at 277 on both boards.
If you have any suggestions LMK either here http://www.techreaction.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1029 or PM me if you don’t mind.
Thanks.
Just left a reply in your thread.
Very nice. But any reason to move from the gd70 to this, other than the onboard IGP?
