Over the weekend we had Lamptron deliver their Limited Edition FC3 fan controller to us. The limited edition FC-3 designed by Ian Helmar, otherwise known as “SNiiPE_DoGG”, comes in two different versions. There is a Model A and a Model B, each with some distinct aesthetic differences. Today we are going to be reviewing the model A. Below are some shots of the two versions that we found on Lamptron’s website that should help illustrate the differences:

With the recent concerns about the FC3 limited edition having a “whine” when fans were set at low speeds, we dove back into testing this unit further to see if we could duplicate the issue.
The main question/concern about this unit was: “Does this unit ‘whine’ like the other FC3 units in the past. The actual unit made noise and so did the fans when low volts were applied.”
We set out to answer this the best we could. Let’s get started, shall we?
Our test...

“It’s going to succeed because no one has tried it before”
It’s pretty easy to slam the new iPad. It’s a media consumption device in a coffee table book form factor. And its not the first.
I carelessly abuse books. I don’t think this unit would survive the inhumane conditions granted to my last three paperbacks.
I worry my 50” plasma isn’t big enough. I have no intereste in watching TV in my lap, much less a move I actually want to enjoy.
I am an aggressive mu...

This morning we had a small little package show up. Once we got around the allotment of wrapping paper, we found an Evo-G Mouse Anchor. Evo-G is a short way to say Evolution Gaming Gear, which is the company that makes this product. Then we found the camera and it was picture taking time! As you can see this comes in a nice compact package. On the back they printed the description, features, and specs along with a quick, 4 picture, ‘how to use’ guide.

This is just a nice teaser of the Asus Rampage II Gene.
From all the good things I have heard about this board I figured, what the hell, lets give it a shot! It showed up over the weekend and for now you all can make due with these pictures of the motherboard. Still waiting on a few other parts to get here, before we see this board in action. Without further ado, here are the pics:
Thoughts so far:
Overall the placement of everything on the motherboard seems to flow well. With this M-ATX desig...

Chew*, a prominent TechREACTION community member, has used an old Prometeia Mach 1 phase-change cooling system to take a new budget Athlon II X2 255 CPU to it’s limits! Chew* wanted to show what the average user could achieve with this chip, and while Chew* is anything but average when it comes to tweaking, he did his best to dumb his results down for the rest of us.
Starting with aircooling, he was able to net some impressive results. However, the real treat was when he slapped ...

What is the best attribute of a mouse? For me it is all about feel! If it does not feel right, I don’t care if it can take out the trash or even walk the dog, it is trash! Razer hit the nail on the head with the LACHESIS, for me the feel along with the tight crisp action makes this mouse a winner.
Let me define my comfort, first and foremost is weight, this mouse has it. In a comparison with some brand name and generic mice it is on the heavy side of the scale for wired and approaching the...

INTRODUCTION
I have been using the Thermalright’s earlier flagship cooler Ultra Extreme for almost the last 3 years since it first launched. Though I have tested a few air coolers in between but none were able to beat this cooler sans the Megahalam and D14 which didnt grant an upgrade for the miniscule improvement they were bringing to the table. And when after so many years Thermalright announced a new flagship cooler, I was sure to test them out even if after buying them. So as ...

Today, we had the extremely well-known Western Digital VelociRaptor series hard drive land on our doorstep. We will be looking at the WD VelociRaptor 300GB GLFS version. There are 3 versions of this drive, BLFS, GLFS, and HLFS. The HLFS and GLFS models are designed to fit into 3.5″ drive bays. However, the BLFS is a compact form of the VelociRaptor, designed to fit 2.5″ mounts. Do not try to install this into a notebook, because it will not fit due to its thickness.

Introduction
A couple of weeks ago I was looking for a new cooler and my mind was quite firmly set on the NH D14 from Noctua. But sometime in late December there was a bit of news from Thermalright about a new cooler and I thought that I should probably wait for it to come out before making a decision.
Now, Thermalright held the performance crown for a long time with its TRUE series and it was only in the last year or so that it lost the crown to the Megahalems and then to the NH D14 from ...

I picked the Scythe Kama Thermo Wireless temperature monitor up for $10 this past week. I figured why not! It was only $10 and I could see just how close the software temperature monitors were to the real thing. With this being extremely portable you can take it anywhere and measure almost anything. Also, this is a really good tool for measuring NB, SB, RAM and other parts of the motherboard that most software programs do not monitor.
Temperature Units: Celsius / Fahrenheit

MSI and Asus were both kind enough to give us some time yesterday. First, we headed to the MSI suite at the Wynn hotel. MSI had many of their products on display, but the real meat was the demonstration of the new P55 Big Bang Fuzion board based off of the Lucid Hydra chip.
Big Bang Fuzion
The Big Bang Fuzion and Trinergy are essentially identical boards with the only difference being their choice of logic. Both are P55 boards with top of the line PWM and capacitors, however the Trinerg...

I arrived at the airport the afternoon of the 6th and was greeted by an explosion of lights and sounds I had never seen before. THIS was Las Vegas! We arrived at Planet Hollywood (Jake and I), got changed and then headed out to the Corsair Party a club called LAVO. Corsair was kind enough to provide a full buffet with open bar, and there were several systems on display.
Corsair's new slogan... "ICE ICE BABY!"
Here were a few of the system’s on display. This one was p...

I just came out of my meeting at the EVGA suite here in Las Vegas and I have some great pictures and new specs to report on this hot board! I was able to have some one on one time with EVGA’s Jacob Freeman and Peter Tan (aka Shamino) and was able to see this new board hands-on (a world first).

First of all, most of you are probably aware of the primary specs that have already been released for the board. These include three phase PWM for each ...
