I was very happy with the X58 SLI LE. I wanted to build another cruncher so I decided to pick up the 3X SLI for the extra cooling that comes with it. Anyway let’s take a look at it.
It has the same black and grey color scheme as the LE. It came with a few more acc. than the LE. No big deal as I did not even open them. The layout seems good. Like most new mobos it has onboard power and reset buttons. The reset button doubles as a hdd activity led. The rear cmos clear can be real handy for those that put it in a case. Overall I think it is a good mobo.
For the build I used an i7 920. OCZ Gold Tri Channel 6GB PC12800 DDR3 Memory – 1600MHz, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Radeon X1600, a 200 gig WD hdd, and a BFG 550 watt psu. A bit on the simple side for the mobo, but it should make a good cruncher.
My goal was a 4 gig overclock on the cpu. Close enough for now.
