It didn’t just SEEM that way, it WAS THE LEADER BY A LOT IN THE VAST MAJORITY OF YOUR BENCHMARKS. In fact, it won darn near all of them. It wasn’t just a “seemed to be ahead” thing.

” We thought the HD5870 would put up more of a fight than it did and we were wrong! ”

But the disbelief remained, and the words used in the commentary pointed to that prior bias for the 5870, a bias that had you believing it would do a lot better than it did against the 480. You were probably been brainwashed a bit all the fan boys that tell lies in favor of ati – little lies and big lies then group think lies. It does have an effect.

” The 5870 got “beaten up” for the most part and we almost felt bad.”

I think you did feel bad.

” It was like putting a college freshman up against a well-seasoned senior in football. ”

I could actually live with that except the seemed word, if that’s where it stopped, as long as you layed it on hard for the nvidia 480 like I ALWAYS SEE when the ati card comes out on top all over the web.
Unfortunately, it was not to be.

Just once I’d love to see someone do that kind of damage control and coddling love for an nvidia card after it gets spanked. I’ve been reading reviews for years now and it never happens.

That line kind of pisses me off. Now the 480 spanked that 5870 even more than you ever dreamed, but, the damage control is still going on.

I think that’s enough complaining, as I also want to say you HAVE THE VERY BEST AND LARGEST LINEUP OF GAME BENCHES FOR THESE TWO CARDS i HAVE SEEN ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET, AND I’VE SEEN 50 REVIEWS. GOOD JOB ON THE THOROUGHNESS !! NO GREAT JOB! THE BEST !

I’m still mad though because of the way ATI always gets the coddling and love (and lying like mad about it elsewhere) wether it wins or loses. I have never seen so much dishonesty in all my life except when a progressive politician opens their yakker.

Thanks for being one place where the ati kissing was not extreme as it usually is.

I have been hearing this. We are just trying to find someone to help us out with the dual or even tri 460s to test

Hopefully sometime soon we will be able to run those tests and compare them with what we have above also.

Try repeating the tests with a pair of OC’d 1GB GTX460, I’m finding it faster than any single GPU out there.

Enjoyed the review! Glad to see such a variety of games instead of “optimized” ones Sucks I a 1kw psu with the wrong connectors : / I’d pick a couple up… after I sold my soul, left nut and pimped my gf. Guess I have to stick with my “paltry” gtx 275.

“We would have to say this is pretty much a tie between the two cards. They are both quiet during basic use, and then, they both get extremely annoying once the fan kicks in and you hit a higher percentage of fan use. So knowing how both fans sound, we could not give the edge to either of the cards. You could always water cool both cards and then you would no longer have to worry!”

This was in the article and then the reviews of the cards by themselves explains the noise level even more.
