The Lamptron FC-T brings smart touch screen functionality to your fingertips. Control up to 6 channels in either manual or auto, with each channel offering up to 30w of output and its own independent automatic parameters which you can adjust to your own specific needs. The -Touch- lets you pick your readouts with choices of RPM or voltage for one side, and Celsius or Fahrenheit for the other. It will also fit into any single 5.25” bay and is presented in a CNC milled aluminum faceplate.

I purchased two Touch fan controllers (black and silver) for different Cooler Master cases. The cases are model ATCS 840 cases. These cases have special locking mechanisms for the 5.25 inch bays. I had to remove the special mechanism from the bay in which I installed the Touch controller. Even after removing the mechanism, I had to drill holes in the sides of the bay as the holes on the Touch did not line up with any of the slots on the bay cage. I must say I was disappointed about this as what should have been a very easy install became much more complicated. It was not easy trying to determine where to drill the holes. After drilling a hole on each side of the bay cage, I was able to install the Touch controller with no further difficulties except for a faulty extension fan line that was in the box. Based on this experience Lamptron needs to give users more options for attaching the Touch in the bay. Also since the unit is shorter than a DVD drive the special mechanism that is normally used for fast install in the bay is not usable. Other than these two issues, it looks great and works well.

Well, while the Sunbeam makes use of the PWN feature built-in the motherboard, the Lamptron doesn’t, so, in short, which one does a better job with the automatic speeds?

Compare in what way Andres?

Also, how does this one compare to the Sunbeam Rheosmart 6? (Since it was also reviewed recently).

Well, I agree with mru in that there is no description on how good (or bad?) does the automatic (PWN-like) mode behaves.

Thanks!

@ MrU

“up to 30w per channel” means each of those 6 channels have up to 30w each. It means you can slap a super high power delta on each 6 channels or a butt load of fans on each channel as long it doesn’t go over 30w total for each channel.

This is the sorriest review ever.
Nowhere is there a description of the auto-mode operation, maybe to hide the fact that it only 2-tier.
Those are not heat sinks on the power transistors! Those are only the metall backs which would be screwed to a heatsink if there were one; which there is not!

105° electrolytic Capacitors are industry standard, especially if you place them next to power transistors radiating their heat directly to them.

Displays require filters for visibility. Anyone who thinks that you can get high visibility in all four directions…. Besides, I have yet to understand why one whoul need visibility from below with a PC. (oops forgot about those 3 fools with enormous cases sitting right in fron of them on their desk. Shame on me.

What exactly is meant by “up to 30W per channel”?? That there are only 30W total available? Devide by 6 = 5W per fan. That’d be tight!
Compare to NZXT Sentry LXE:
10W per channel, albeit only 5
Display twice the size in color for the desk, but can be mounted in 2x 5.25″slots
Full linear automatic control of the fans
should I say it is $10 cheaper?

A little bit less advertising, and a little more objectivity the next time, please.
