Introduction:

We have a sample from the house of Noctua today, the NH-C12P SE14. This cooler has been in Noctua’s line up for about two years now, and it has been updated several times during. The “SE14″ is the latest update from the original NH-C12P. This update is replacing the NF-P12 fan with the larger NF-P14 FLX 140mm fan for improved cooling and noise profile. The “SE” was added with the introduction of the newer Intel sockets.

The Noctua NH-C12P SE14 is based on the original NH-C12P and has received more than 100 awards worldwide, and Noctua themselves have received over 1000 awards worldwide for their products. The NH-C12P is a good solution for HTPC, Media Centers and desktop computers, however, it is not limited to those applications. The cooler can be used very well in a tower computer case or any other computer for that matter.

The NH-C12P is a vertical airflow or top-flow cooler. Noctua’s unique design and color scheme really make this and other Noctua coolers stand out. The cooling performance should not be neglected as Noctua coolers have also been known for their excellent cooling performance and quiet operation. The NH-C12P is no exception. This review will focus on the cooling performance of the actual cooling body and its efficiency under high stress. This will point out the advantages and short comings of the product and will give you a good idea of whether or not this product is adequate for your needs.

Features:

- Proven 6 heatpipe design

Recommended by more than 100 international hardware websites and magazines, the NH-C12P heatsink is renowned for its excellent quality and thermal performance.

- C-type design with Airflow-Gaps

Due to the down-facing design, two large Airflow-Gaps and the oversize 140mm fan, the NH-C12P SE14 provides superior cooling for near-socket motherboard components.

- NF-P14 140mm premium fan

Further improving the original NH-C12P’s much acclaimed quiet cooling performance, the NF-P14 is a highly optimized, premium quality 140mm fan with Vortex-Control Notches for superb quietness and outstanding aerodynamic efficiency.

- High compatibility

The down-facing c-type design allows for low height as well as excellent motherboard and case compatibility, making the NH-C12P SE14 suitable for many smaller or desktop style cases.

- SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system

Noctua’s enthusiast grade SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting provides broad socket compatibility (LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3) and meets the highest demands in safety, performance and ease-of-use.

- Noctua NT-H1 high-end thermal compound

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

The Noctau NH-C12P SE14 includes all accessories needed to mount the cooler on almost all current socket configurations. The accessories also include voltage reduction wires and Noctau’s NT-H1 thermal compound.

The Noctau NH-C12P SE14 includes all mounting hardware for most major CPU socket configurations available to date.

Supported Sockets Include:

Intel 775 / 1156 / 1366 (Requires backplate)
AMD AM2/ AM2+/ AM3 (Requires backplate)

i am currently using this cooler and i gotta say my load temps at 4.0Ghz are about 15C less than what you got in your tests after a 24hr p95 run and mine is inside a cm690 II case not on a bench. it seems that your VCore is a little bit high for 4.0Ghz mine is at 1.33V with VDroop, but that should account for the temperature difference. i am also using the noctua tim.

Athough the cooler did not do well in out high TDP tests….I think it’s still near the top when compared to the other top down designs on the market. So the Silver award seem justified in this case. Nice work BoT :-)

I love the top down design I wish more manufacturers did that. Helps keep the pwms and chipset cooler.
