[Review] ASUS HD 6950 2GB – Voltage Tweak

Power Consumption:

Notice in the test below that this is total system power consumption. We tried our best to push the load as much as possible on the video card alone and nothing else. We ran FurMark at the highest settings our system would allow. We feel FurMark gives the most reliable readings on GPU load and on how much wattage the card puts out without stressing other components in the system too much. (Total consumption measured at outlet)

The ASUS HD 6950 comes in just a little better than middle of the pack for load power consumption, which is not bad considering the performance the 6950 puts out. It even beat out the GTX 560 Ti from EVGA and tied the Zotac GTX 560 Ti for power consumption when overclocked. This is great to see from the HD 6950.

Fan Noise Test:

The ASUS HD 6950 was the 5th quietest fan that we have ever tested. Even though when fan speed was increased to full speed it was almost the loudest we have ever tested, we can say comfortably that it never got nearly that loud while running game tests. The average fan speed for the HD 6950 seemed to be around 30-40% during our gaming tests, which if you look at the chart, means it is running very quietly.
