[Review] Silverstone GD06 – Grandia Series

Building off the successful GD04 and GD05, SilverStone created the Grandia GD06 to again raise the expectation enthusiasts have for HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) chassis.  These improvements were made with the compact depth maintained (340mm) and exterior visuals enhanced as the GD06 fits perfectly in the living room. Its five hard drive storage includes two hot-swappable bays for maximum flexibility while a front door lock and a rear Kensington Security Slot ensure security for the installed drives. Cooling is provided by three 120mm silent fans with filters for exceptional performance, quietness and effective dust prevention. For those in doubt that a small footprint HTPC chassis can be used to build a powerful and fully loaded media server, the Grandia GD06 will change their minds, or will it? Read on..

Makes it a long way away from your flame as well as, in the event
that getting set up within a cabinet break, that there’s the majority a good in. The resulting 33-foot long, $300,000 4-berth Eco – Roamer ‘ described by auto magazine Jalopnik as a
‘High-Tech, Zombie-Proof Survival RV’ – is certainly
a bit of a beast. VG: You have an online business model verses a traditional brick and mortar,
do you think that mode of operation is more environmental.

Hey Paul, it is not an apple-to-apple comparison between GD06 and LC17 ? The former is designed for M-ATX FF while the latter can fit ATX FF. You can not fit an ATX MB into GD06….If you install a M-ATX MB into LC17, those cards will be packed as well due to limited number of PCI-E slots, right? Just my 5 cents :P

Really bad design fault here. Most modern video cards will take up 2x PCI backplane. I have a TV tuner card and a separate Asus Xonar card. This design would mean packing them right next to each other creating massive heat problems. The LC17 has no such problems.

SilverStone is a wonderful Case Manufacturer. It is an HTPC so wire management and space is a premium but the fact that you were able to get that big NVidia in there was surprising and definately creates a possiblity for an XBox Killer.. The Lock on the front was a little too Paranoyic but other than that, I like it. I like it a lot.
