The Mounting Mechanism & Installation:
For our test bed we will use the Intel mounting set.
There are several options for mounting holes, including those for AMD. This means that you will have to use the included backplate for the AMD platform as well.
We begin the installation by removing the foam cover from the backplate and inserting the long screws.
and
Done. We can now install the backplate on the motherboard.
Once seated properly we can carefully turn the board over and proceed with with the washers.
We now install the Knurled Thumbnuts
Moving on to prepping the cooler.
We now install the hold down plate for the Intel socket configuration.
The cooler is now ready to be seated.
There is no spring loading mechanism. The pressure is solely coming from the hold down plate and the thumb nuts.
We are now ready for the fan which is held by rubber pins. There are 8 pins included, the 2nd set of 4 can be used to mount a 2nd fan on the rear of the heatsink.
The pins are moved into the slots on the side of the cooler.
Connect the 4-pin fan connector and the mounting is complete.

I fitted this fan into a build for my partner. The Asus board P8Z68 V accepted it without problems, leaving enough side clearance at the nearest memory module. It keeps the CPU Intel i5 2400 LGA1155-at a steady 19/20c at idle.
I paid about £13.50 for it and it has proved to be an excellent cooler.
Highly recommended. 5/5
I would like to get another fan as supplied for it, but to date I have not been able to locate one.

Thanks for that real world feedback. =)
Forgot….you should also lubricate the fan before using it. I opened it up and it looked bone dry so far as I could tell.
I installed this puppy today. Few observations. a) The base is polished but not perfectly smooth. There are very clear and machining marks, but they are very shallow. b) The base is completely flat on all axes compared against a razor blade. c) There is a gap between the copper heat pipe and the aluminum bits of the base.
Other than that it works much better than the stock AM3 cooler. Installation is pretty painless too.
