[Review] Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced

Air Flow:

The intake air flow will help you understand the name for the case, High Air Flow. The massive 230mm front intake fan will help cool the hard drives while bringing in fresh air. With the side panel, you will have a couple options for your intake setup. You can keep the included 230mm fan for your fresh air intake, or you can take that off and install up to four 120mm fans to get more focused air flow over the components that need it.

With the exhaust system in the HAF Advanced, you will have one 120mm fan on the back panel,  as well as a 230mm fan on the top. The top 230mm fan can be exchanged for 120mm fans if you prefer to go that route.

LED Lighting:

To add a little extra to the HAF Advanced, Cooler Master has added red LEDs to the fan up front. It is not much of an addition, but it does help a little with the aesthetics of the case.

Conclusion:

The Cooler Master HAF Advanced does have a lot of great features, including the USB 3.0 and 2.0 connectors on the front. The wire management of the HAF Advanced is first-rate, which we’ve come to expect from Cooler Master. The optional PSU installation points in the HAF Advanced give you a little more customization, being able to install the power supply on the top or bottom of the case. After installation was over, we noticed just how well the HAF Advanced held our GTX 590 despite the screw-free arrangement.  It is always a good sign to be able to hold one of the biggest video cards on the market with ease, because it will not limit any upgrades due to size limitations.

However, for the price of the HAF Advanced, with its MSRP of $159.99, we were very dissappointed with the lack of dust filtration. To have as much air flow as this case can provide, and not have one filter, is ridiculous. The case will be filled with dust in no time (especially if you have pets), raising temperatures of hardware and looking filthy on the inside when you peak through the window. With the asking price so high, dust filters should be a given, but apparently not.

The Cooler Master HAF Advanced receives the TechREACTION.net Silver Silicon Award.

You can find the Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced at various online retailers, including Newegg! For more information on the Cooler Master HAF Advanced or any other Cooler Master products, please visit their website.

I have owned a 932 for over 2 years now without any dust filters. I live in a dusty old house. I have only had to clean the insides once and then only for appearances sakes. The case does not attract or accumulate a lot of dust. I think this is because of the positive pressure in the case with 2x 23cms fans input and only 1x23cm and 1x14cm output. That being said, I think filters may impede airflow whch afterall is what this case is all about. I am sure the technical experts in this field at Coolermaster would have included them if it would have made any difference.

@ Zeepkist

I stated in the opening paragraph:

“The HAF 932 Advanced also comes with an internal USB 3.0 connector”

Although, I thought I mentioned it again later on in the article, but I guess not. I will update the article to have it in there multiple times.

Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the review, besides the USB 3.0 stuff.

hi duke,
could you please let us know in future reviews what type of usb 3.0 cables are included with a case.
usb 3.0 connected to I/O backplate or to an internal header on the motherboard, that way we will know if the case in question is a good choice for our new motherboard.
thanks.

I own the normal HAF 932 and besides the USB 3.0 slots it really does not look like a different case. The slots for cables may be slightly different but did Cooler Master beef-up the tool-less Pci-E/Back plate slots? When using my GTX 460 I screw it in because the locking mechanism did not hold it well enough, and the front of the card was bending down a bit. CM should have really tried to redo the case or add new features to call it “Advanced”.
