The Mounting Mechanism & Installation:
For our test bed we will use the Intel mounting set.
There are several options for mounting holes, including those for both Intel and AMD. This means that you will have to use the included backplate for whichever platform your system is based on. All modern sockets are supported.
We begin the installation by removing the foam cover from the backplate and inserting the long screws. The foam cover is only needed for socket 775 installations.
Done. We can now install the backplate on the motherboard.
Once seated properly we can carefully turn the board over and proceed with with the washers.
We now install the Knurled Thumbnuts that secure the backplate to the motherboard.
We now install the mounting brackets for the Intel socket configuration.
The cooler is now ready to be seated. This cooler is outfitted with a hold down plate which will secureit.
There is no spring-loading mechanism. The pressure is solely applied by the hold down plate and the thumb nuts. It is difficult to guesstimate exactly how much pressure is applied this way.
We are now ready for the fan. The fan is held in place by 4 rubber pins. There are 8 pins included, the 2nd set of 4 can be used to mount a 2nd fan in the rear of the heatsink. The pins are pulled through the fans’ screw holes.
The pins are moved over the side of the fins.
Connect the 4-pin fan connector and the mounting is complete.
