[Review] Sapphire Radeon HD6770 Vapor-X

Sapphire Technology has been around for ten years and has learned how to get things done the right way. Being one of the, if not the, largest supplier of AMD/ATi video cards Sapphire is a leader in design, innovation and application of new processes. Through what many consider a conservative approach to innovation; Sapphire has maintained a strong market share in an ever growing field of competitors. Is this HD6770 is one of the reasons why:

Though the packaged is a rather plain, no frills, box; the Sapphire Radeon HD6770 is anything but plain looking. Stepping away from the flashy packaging of most other Sapphire branded products this package is pure function and utility. By focusing on the product contained inside rather than marketing a pretty box Sapphire presents this card (and a few others) with a bold and different approach.

Packaging:

Looking at the card itself makes one forget about the rather plain box:

For a size comparison a GTX 465 was used to represent the more massive cards in this price range. The smaller size of the Sapphire HD6770 makes it more versatile increasing its usefulness in applications where space is at a premium.

@Enigma8750 “The 6870 is new 5770. It is really hard to figure out.. Great work ATI. What were you thinking.”

Are you sick in the head? The 6780 is better, not to mention it has great overclocking ability. It happens to be better than 2 5770′s combined.

And for those of you who think the 6770 is just a rebranded version of the 5770 your wrong. Its slightly stronger, faster, and includes more features. The only thing they have in common is the 108 wattage.

Thanks for the comment. I was looking at other reviews and most only look at games and heat without looking at the actual impact on the system of that heat. I would like to hear what readers think of this non standard approach to a video card review. I personally prefer to know what a card can actually do other than just games and I hope readers get a little extra out of this.

My main forte is Motherboard and CPU work so this is new to me. As a person more on the industrial side of computers this approach made the most sense to me. Does it work for the reader? Feedback is appreciated.

I don’t understand why they changed the number system.. The 5770 and the 6770 is not cousins.. They are not The same but better card. The 6870 is new 5770. It is really hard to figure out.. Great work ATI. What were you thinking.
