Conclusion
From our observations, eVGA has a great product on their hands. During my Gulftown CPU testing on LN2, the Frostbite was a clear winner compared to Ceramique, allowing me to run higher clock speeds and lower voltages, a win-win scenario. With the GPU testing on dry ice, however, there was very little apparent difference with my vGPU limited situation. With higher voltage (more heat load) and LN2 on the GPUs, we suspect the Frostbite would be just as impressive as it was with the CPU testing.
Based simply on the merit of the CPU testing I personally give Frostbite two thumbs up, and I’ll be using it for all my LN2 testing in the future. However, due to the similar performance to Ceramique at dry ice temperatures, and considering the affordability of Ceramique, I’ll continue to use and recommend Ceramique for less extreme situations (dry ice or less).
Frostbite easily earns the TechREACTION.net Gold Silicon award! Way to go eVGA!
We’ve already been hearing a lot criticism over the price, but we don’t see it as excessive, performance-pcs.com and Newegg are already listing it for under $10. Our only suggestion… no, our only plea to eVGA? Please offer larger quantities, if this is geared towards extreme enthusiasts, please offer a 20+ gram tube with a bulk discount. I’d happily pay $50 for 20 grams of this stuff!
We’d like to thank eVGA for sending a sample our way for today’s testing.
