Graphics Testing and Overclocking:

Only the IGP was tested here. Attempts were made to test out some of the features of the Lucid Virtu but we were hard pressed to find a single slot card in our inventory to put into an ITX case that could best the IGP (Shoving a dual slot card into a single slot did not work no matter how hard we pushed).

First off was the 3DMark Vantage testing. The IGP is DX10 and therefore it was as the best that could be done with a Future Mark Suite. To the purist it may be sacrilege not to test with a DX11 card but the reason for not testing with one will soon become apparent.

Some cards commonly recommended for use on in ITX cases are shown below with links:

ATI Radeon HD 5450 result posted at FutureMark

ATI Radeon HD 5550 result posted at FutureMark

NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 result posted at FutureMark

This should give an idea of relative performance but does not address the lack of DX11. I will address some of that here:

DX11 is not required to watch movies, DX11 is not required to surf the web, DX11 does not make things go faster. What does DX11 look like? Click the link and tell me which of the shots below is DX11, 10 and 9. They are posted in a different order in the thread.

DX10DX?2

Link to DX thread: “Do you know X” and please no cheating. This should be a challenge..

There are many places that you can see the differences but they are generally not a focal point when playing a game. Scenes like the ones above are more likely to be the norm.

There may be some confusion as to why a discrete video card was discounted so easily and the truth is the higher scores of the cards linked are overclocked results; this IGP Can OC as well. At the end of the day to truly gain any real performance a dual slot card would be needed.

Some more benches:

Stalker: Stock clocked IGP is on the left and Overclocked IGP is on the right.

Unigine Heaven, tropics and Sanctuary were used for stability testing of the IGP OC. An initial MAX IGP multiplier of 37 was reached with no additional voltage with a final IGP multiplier of 34 being necessary to gain stability through all tests.

Moving to FurMark to put the heat to things up and stress a little.

This OC was tested on Steam playing Mafia II, RUSE and FutureMarks own Shattered Horizons as well as  S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Unigine (Tropics, Heaven and Sanctuary), 3DMark Vantage and FurMark as shown with no problems.
