Wire Management:

With the side panel off, you now get your first glimpse inside the 500R, and does it ever look promising. With the four pre-cut holes for routing wires, we should not have a problem at all with keeping this installation clean and clutter free. However, we always like to save final comments until after the system installation.

After installation was complete, you can see the clutter free installation. The wire management solution used in the 500R is top notch and will help give us the best possible air flow.

Installation:

Test System:

  • Abit IP35 Pro
  • WD 500GB
  • WD Scorpio 320GB
  • Zumax 750w PSU
  • Nvidia 590
  • ASUS CD ROM

With the motherboard spacers in place already, you will just need to line up the motherboard holes in place and use the supplied screws to securely lock it into position.

Installing your PCI cards is quick and easy with the thumbscrews used with the 500R. This will alleviate having to round up a screwdriver every time you want to take a card out or install a new one.

Installing 2.5″ and 3.5″ drives is rather painless, although not completely tool-free. The 2.5″ you will need to line up with the four holes on the bottom of the slider and use the supplied screws to securely lock into position. The 3.5″ is  a little more simple.  Just line up the prongs with the screw holes on the drive and connect them to secure the drive in place.

Installing your 5.25″ devices is quick and easy with the tool-free solutions Corsair has utilized. You will just need to slide your device in until you hear the click sound and then your device is locked in place. To remove it, you will need to slide the tab forward and pull out your drive.

Dust Filtration:

The bottom of the 500R has a sliding dust filter used to help keep your PSU as clean as possible. As you can see, the filter can slide out easy for a quick cleaning when it is needed.

The front is covered with filters, while the drive bay covers use a different solution than the bottom area, they both will do a solid job in keeping out excess dust.
