Air Flow:

The front panel sports two 120mm fans to bring fresh air to your system, while also blowing it over the hard drives to keep them cool along with the other hardware.

The side sports the big 200mm intake fan, which can be replaced with two 120/140mm fans if you like that option better.

For exhausting excess hot air, the 500R has a 120mm fan on the back and has the option of two 140mm fans on the top.

LED Lighting:

In the final addition to the Corsair 500R, they have added LED fans to help with lighting the case and helping it stand out from others in the marketplace.

Conclusion:

Overall, the Corsair Carbide 500R screamed first class,  starting with the white/black color scheme to help it stand apart from the swamped, predominately black, case market. The addition of the USB 3.0, fan controller, and the LED light switch are always a nice surprise. The wire management solution utilized by the 500R worked great and kept the inside of the case clutter free, which will promote better airflow and lower temperatures. Installation was quick and easy with the mostly tool-free design the 500R brings to the table. The thumbscrews for the PCI slots and the tabs that auto-lock into position for the 5.25″ drive bays help keep installation going fast. The dust filtering used with the 500R is solid, but not the best we have seen. This is acceptable, because for a case in this price segment, MSRP $139.99, we would not expect to see the best-of-the-best filtration. To bring the whole package together, Corsair has added white LED’s to the front two fans and the side fan which gives that little extra “pop” and makes it stand out among the hordes  of other cases.

The Corsair Carbide 500R receives the Techreaction.net Gold Silicon Award!
