With over 50 years of speaker system know-how for concerts, movies, public address and clubs, Cerwin-Vega has been around the block. When creating the XD3 speaker for desktop and computer applications the goal is to optimize the sound output while keeping the enclosure small. Clarity is critical, especially for those producing multimedia or analyzing tracks. Signal purity must be maintained by using low noise amplifiers that don’t disappoint when the volume is set on high.
Powered desktop speakers like the XD3 must also fully integrate with your entire sound system and outboard accessories. The XD3 has the capability to handle multiple inputs, you can switch instantly between your computer as a source or other more portable platforms such as iPods, phones and other media players via the 1/8″ stereo Auxiliary input. The XD3 also has a convenient headphone jack which allows you to easily plug-in headphones without getting behind your computer. How well will they actually stack up in our testing? Read on and find out …

I have had these a week now and am still surprised at the clarity. As some comment on these little powerhouse speakers they can break up and hiss if they are not set properly. I turned the computer speaker volume to 60 ( over half) and was able to turn the speaker knob down to the 10 oclock area on the front left speaker. This stops the hiss and break up. Then I adjust the speaker volume using media player or the volume control on the vidios I am watching, The final adjudtment I made was eq adjustment on real player, Right click the arrow on real player , click enhancment click equlizer and adjust the eq. The fine eq adjustment is made under control panle I have realtec, Go to realteck audio manager click sound effects tab. set sound effects to none. On the bottom of sound effects you will see pop, live club, rock. above those you will see equlizer, a settings bar, reset and to the right a little box with some blue in it click on that box and it will open the equalizer set the eq for the type of music your listening to and click save and give it a name. I leave my settings bar on (user define) and use the eq. With the eq open click on pop, live. club, rock, see how the eq bars move. now you have learned what the eq can do with presets. make your own presets for the tye of music you like. I am using widows 7 but there was a adjustment for xp also.look around youl find it, You shoulnt need to set thes little speakers past eleven on there knob, definetly dont tun the knob to were they start to hiss. I have now moved these speakers over to my music studio DAW they are that good, One last complaint I read on a blog the left speaker gets quite warm, make sure it gets good ventalation. I put a computer fan on the back of mine and it stays cool .Good luck. set correctly these are awsome little speakers,

” the front panel power switch” Yeah – the CV site talks about this as well… It doesn’t exist. There is a front volume control but power switch is on the back only. I have a pair of these at the moment and I find they break up even at moderate volumes. They are going back to Best Buy tomorrow.
