Gooooooood morning gamers! Once again we bring to you a review of another product from Cooler Master’s gaming division, CM Storm. Introducing the Xornet Gaming Mouse. Now if you have been a loyal follower of Techreaction.net you’d know that over the past few months we have reviewed quite a few products from CM Storm, and to date they have not disappointed.

The Xornet is being totted as a gaming mouse for pro FPS gamers. Below is an excerpt of the product description from CM Storm’s own site:

A Pure Gaming Experience
The Xornet gaming mouse is lightweight, ergonomically designed and forged with a reassuringly solid design. It is built for professional FPS gamers that prefer a claw grip. Engineered to execute precise in-game tactics, Xornet comes loaded with a high-performance 2000 DPI sensor that includes on-the-fly adjustment, an ultra-step wheel encoder – providing extremely accurate scrolling, and Japanese-made Omron micro-switches that are meant to endure up to five million clicks. Presented in a eye-catching crimson stealth black high-gloss finish, Xornet lends its truly breathtaking appeal as the focal point of a gamer’s setup.

Let’s see if CM Storm is on point with their claims, or the Xonet will be the first CM Storm product not to put a smile on our faces.

Aesthetics & Packaging

As you can see the Xornet comes in a red, and black box with an opening which gives you the ability to take a sneak peak of the mouse before actually opening the box. The box itself details the features the mouse is equipped. The Xornet itself is protected by a hard plastic protection which can be found within the packaging of a-lot of gaming mice, and mice in general.

Opening the box we were presented with the Xornet as well as a start up guide. The mouse’s itself is constructed of black hard plastic with the Xornet name shown in white lettering, as well as the CM Storm logo located on the lower end of the peripheral. At first glance the mouse looks pretty good looks wise. CM Storm wasn’t lying when they indicated that the crimson black stealth high gloss was eye catching.

The Xornet is a USB wired mouse which is constructed in a claw like ergonomic design which aides in comfort, and is made for right handed users. Sorry lefties : (. The length of the cord is 2 meters (6.56 ft) per CM Storm. This should be more then adequate for any gamer. The mouse itself is a bit on the small side in comparison to other gaming mice in on the market. The measurements are (75w x 107h x 35d) so anyone with big hands may have an issue using the Xornet.

Taking a closer look, we see that there are seven buttons in total including the mouse wheel. You have the right, and left mouse buttons, and the On the Fly DPI control buttons located right below the mouse wheel. There are three DPI settings that can be chosen. 500, 1000, and 2000.

Next we have another set of buttons which are customizable in the sense that they allow you to assign any commands you want to to them within a game’s key binding option menu. By default these buttons act as the Page Forward, and Page Back buttons while using web browsers. Another thing to note is that the sides of the mouse sport perforated rubber sides. This adds grip, and a bit of added comfort while using the mouse.

Flipping the Xornet over onto it’s back we see the mouse utilizing Teflon feet on the top, and bottom ends, and the rubberized Anti Slip Tech to the left of the sensor. This handy little bugger helps keep the mouse nice and steady. More on that later.
