Included software/utilities

Among the normal cost control software that is generally ignored by the enthusiast community (Norton, DAEMON tools and winzip) are many useful pieces of software/utilities provided by ASUS.

Going down the list we find some very useful items:

ASUS AI Suite II
The Turbo EVO software allows users to tweak their system speed and power usage and simple push button overclocking for the novice as well as the ability to make final tweaks and tests for the experienced user. With the digital power control operating system (OS) overclocking is becoming a reality.

With the EPU utility the system can be automatically configured for power savings or performance for those that are not concerned about overclocking or who are using a chassis that does not allow for advanced cooling.

USB 3.0 Boost brings a little extra to the scene with the ability to substantially increase speeds.

We now give you the ASUS data followed by a test of our own preformed with a Mushkin Chronos connected to a Thermaltake BlacX 5G

On the left is standard USB 3.0 and on the right USB 3.0 Turbo. It works well on newer drives but not so much in older devices.

Here on the left is standard USB 3.0 using a 250 GB SATA II disk and on the right the same disk using USB 3.0 Turbo.

As you can see with older hardware your mileage may vary. Sadly things become obsolete and we must remain in yesterday unless we are willing to let go and move forward to tomorrow.

Digi+ Power Control goes a step beyond TurboV allowing automatic system tuning to save energy or increase performance.

Other included software of note:

ASUS WebStorage: This software allows backups, file syncing and file integration between your PC and your mobile devices ASUS Web Storage gives a value added feature that will be little utilized. This is not to say that it does not provide utility but more that these things are often ignored by users captivated by the marketing of software vendors or not realizing the actual utility of these features.

Lucid MVP: This has been covered in many places. The fact is it works, it is no more a cheat or work around than disabling Vsync or tweaking your video settings. It simply allows some render streamlining by the IGP and can stop tearing with its version of Vsync which allows high frame rates without tearing.

Intel RST and SCT: Intel Rapid Start Technology (RST) by caching your current computer state to a SSD and allowing a rapid resume from hibernation while Intel Smart Connect Technology (SCT) allows the PC to receive background updates while in sleep mode so as to not compromise performance in any way while the system is in use.

WonderGate (iStuff for Apple junkies): A solution which provides hassle-free file sharing and viewing between PC and iPhone or iPad? WonderGate is your best choice. WonderGate is an application providing you an interface viewing and sharing your files, such as,photos, videos, and documents through your iPhone or iPad. Furthermore, with its friendly user

Disk Unlocker: (allows access to drives over 2TB)

Google Chrome is included for all of the people who just can not stomach the bloated internet explorer or the ever updating FireFox.
