CM Storm Sonuz Gaming Headset

Conclusion

So pretty much the CM Storm Sonuz overall is a pretty darn good mid level headset performance wise. It preforms well when gaming, and is darn (we use that word way too much. Darn it. Doh! Did it again.) good when listening to music, and watching movies. No distortions is always a plus when it comes to headsets, and the fact that the headset can be transformed (waiting for the Optimus Prime jokes) into a headphone is an added bonus, which again we feel CM Storm should have provided quick instructions on how to remove the microphone correctly. It also doesn’t hurt that, per CM Storm, the MSRP of the Sonuz is said to be $69.99 USD.

The cons are that the ear pads weren’t as comfortable as advertised. Again they weren’t the worse we have tried, but wasn’t the best. Also the fact that the headset as headphones on the go to us is not the best option. The Sonuz to us is just waaaaaay to big to be something you would take with you to jam to tunes on  your preferred portable device to listen to music on. Granted this is just our opinion, hell this whole review is an opinion, and really shouldn’t be taken as biblical fact, but we do feel many of us would share our opinion in regards to the Sonuz being an on the go peripheral.

With all the pro’s and cons we have listed about the Sonuz we feel it deserves our Silver Award. I know some of you are like, “Wait what? You kept raving about the sound quality and that even though its a mid level audio solution it was pretty darn (there goes that word again) good. And I thought you had tried worse feeling ear pads? What gives??” Yea we said the quality overall was good, and we stand by that. If the Sonuz was just being said to be a gaming headset we would have given it our Gold Award for giving very decent sound at a mid level price, but since its not being advertised as just a gaming headset, and is said to be a multi purpose headset with the ability to be an on the go headphone solution we feel the comfort of the ear pads, and the fact that the headsets are so big, and bulky it wouldn’t appeal to many people as something to use as an on the go music, or video listening device. We don’t like to do it but it wouldn’t be fair if we just over looked those things in our overall conclusion. : (
