Mimoco Designer Flash Drives

A look at the character flash drives:

Once we busted our flashed drives out of the box, or did Superman do it himself, we got our first pictures. The detail on the flash drives is superb! They look exactly like you would expect them too, and kudos to Mimoco for not slacking on the design and implementation. Mimoco has also supplied us with two flash drive holders, which we will look more at later.

Now, just a quick shot with their heads, or caps, connected. They look great, even with their stubby little arms that made us laugh.

Snuggies anyone? With their key chain clips on the top, you can easily keep your flash drive with you. The casing will help keep your precious flash drive as scratch-free as possible, in case you like to drop things.

Speed Tests:

ATTO Benchmark:

ATTO uses compressible data and is a good indication of best possible results. It defaults to a 4 thread depth, so small file size will score better than other tests, but not as well as the full AHCI 32 or 64 thread test other programs use.  Still ATTO is more indicative of real world possible performance with real world max threading.

The Flash Drive:

The Superman Drive:

Well, the Flash lives up to his name and beats the Superman drive by 6MBs read speed. The Flash read speed is great and where we like to see 2.0 devices, however the Superman drive is a little low with only 23MBs read. Both write speeds are not the greatest coming in below average with 3 and 5MBs write speeds.

CrystalDiskMark:

Crystal Diskmark is another popular  benching tool as it provides a nice, neat output and uses a Queue Depth of 32 for 4K read/writes. By default CDM uses a random test pattern.

The Flash Drive:

The Superman Drive:

CDM reveals almost identical results with our ATTO testing, so no real need to beat a dead horse.

Icons and Wallpapers:

Here is a quick look at another cool feature you get for buying the Mimoco flash drives. They give you custom icons for each drive, which you to use however you want to, below are our two favorites that we use as icons for our flash drives.

Mimoco also includes custom wallpapers for you to use on your PC, Laptop and mobile devices. We have a few below to check out.

Conclusion:

After we got to play with everything associated with the flash drives, we were impressed with everything you actually get. The model quality is great-looking and not cheap at all. All the attention to detail really makes them standout pieces. It is true that they will not be your fastest flash drives, but they are not marketed that way. They are novelty items that happen to serve a purpose and store information for you. So we can overlook that factor a little, but just keep that in mind. With all the extras you truly can deck out your PC, laptop, and mobile device with your favorite comic book and movie heroes, as well as other custom designer flash drives. The one thing that does annoy us, is that when plugged into our laptop our drive faces down so we get to look at the backs of the drives. Maybe it is different if you have ports on both sides of your laptop or maybe it is a laptop model by model basis on whether it faces up or down? We are not sure, as we do not have another laptop to test with, but the fact remains that we still look at the back.

If you want the fastest flash drives on the market, you will want to look elsewhere,  like Corsair or Kingston. Clearly that is not why you would buy a designer flash drive, if you want the coolest looking flash drives on the market bar none, and loaded with extras, Mimoco is where you need to shop!

The Mimoco Flash drives earn the Techreaction Gold Silicon Award!
