Adata’s new “party” drive, the DashDrive UC500, sports an attractive curved shape, with color choices of gold and sparkling red. The glossy metal exterior adds durability to the eye-catching shape, letting the user carry their ‘memories in a bottle’ with confidence and pride. They come in capacities of 8,16, and 32GB capacities to help suit most people’s needs. Now lets move on and see what this drive can do … Read on!

Speed Tests:

After our speed test finished, we found that the UC500 produced speeds of 20.8MB/s read and 8.2MB/s Write. With speeds not really getting close to maxing out USB 2.0 speeds in todays’ age, is somewhat annoying. We really want to see maxed read speeds and 15-20MB/s write speeds for USB 2.0 flash drives. Yes, we do realize creating every single flash drive with speeds that max USB 2.0 bus, would be expensive. Companies have to pick and choose which drives are going to be the best and which will just be cheap, middle  of the road flash drives.

Conclusion:

Overall, the UC500 did OK in our testing. The wine bottle came in about the middle of the road – speed wise. For an a MSRP of $10.99 (8GB); $15.99 (16GB); $26.99 (32GB), they are not priced with top of the line flash drives. Which is good to see, but we would still probably want the price a little lower.

The UC500 receives the Techreaction.net Silver Silicon Award.
