Curiosity killed the cat, but will it kill us? I went out and bought the new MX-3 thermal paste from Arctic Cooling. Until the other day, I have always used AS5 (Arctic Silver 5) for my important hardware. However, with all the rave reviews about the new MX-3, I decided to give it a try. Is all the banter about this product really true? I am on a mission to find out once and for all!
MX-3 Packaging:
The MX-3 comes in basic packaging as you can see. The big attention grabber on the package w...

After an immense build up of anticipation, the Cooler Master USP 100 (MSRP $99) has finally arrived! It was like the first date butterflies all over again, minus the stuttering of the ice-breaking opening line. Without wasting anymore time on small talk, let’s break this thing wide open, shall we?
Cooler Master’s quick introduction of the case:

Now that you have read my first blog (*cough* HERE *cough*) about the HD4200 IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor). We will be moving on to overclocking the HD4200 in this article and seeing what all it has! Hopefully, this is satisfy all the advanced users curiosities, if you have any, about this IGP. This was a new experience for me, because I am an avid gamer and have always had a stand alone GPU. IGP is not in my vocabulary when it comes to building gaming systems. Needless to say, I was pre...

With my I7 system sitting around and only needing a video card, I decided to take it out of my AMD rig and use the IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) the board offers. If you all are like me, it has probably been at least 10 years since you even thought about integrated graphics. With the new games that are available in today’s market these IGP’s, however much improved, will still be slaughtered. The real question however, is just how bad will these games eat up this ATI Radeon HD...

Over the weekend we had Lamptron deliver their Limited Edition FC3 fan controller to us. The limited edition FC-3 designed by Ian Helmar, otherwise known as “SNiiPE_DoGG”, comes in two different versions. There is a Model A and a Model B, each with some distinct aesthetic differences. Today we are going to be reviewing the model A. Below are some shots of the two versions that we found on Lamptron’s website that should help illustrate the differences:

With the recent concerns about the FC3 limited edition having a “whine” when fans were set at low speeds, we dove back into testing this unit further to see if we could duplicate the issue.
The main question/concern about this unit was: “Does this unit ‘whine’ like the other FC3 units in the past. The actual unit made noise and so did the fans when low volts were applied.”
We set out to answer this the best we could. Let’s get started, shall we?

This morning we had a small little package show up. Once we got around the allotment of wrapping paper, we found an Evo-G Mouse Anchor. Evo-G is a short way to say Evolution Gaming Gear, which is the company that makes this product. Then we found the camera and it was picture taking time! As you can see this comes in a nice compact package. On the back they printed the description, features, and specs along with a quick, 4 picture, ‘how to use’ guide.

This is just a nice teaser of the Asus Rampage II Gene.
From all the good things I have heard about this board I figured, what the hell, lets give it a shot! It showed up over the weekend and for now you all can make due with these pictures of the motherboard. Still waiting on a few other parts to get here, before we see this board in action. Without further ado, here are the pics:

Today, we had the extremely well-known Western Digital VelociRaptor series hard drive land on our doorstep. We will be looking at the WD VelociRaptor 300GB GLFS version. There are 3 versions of this drive, BLFS, GLFS, and HLFS. The HLFS and GLFS models are designed to fit into 3.5″ drive bays. However, the BLFS is a compact form of the VelociRaptor, designed to fit 2.5″ mounts. Do not try to install this into a notebook, because it will not fit due to its thickness.

I picked the Scythe Kama Thermo Wireless temperature monitor up for $10 this past week. I figured why not! It was only $10 and I could see just how close the software temperature monitors were to the real thing. With this being extremely portable you can take it anywhere and measure almost anything. Also, this is a really good tool for measuring NB, SB, RAM and other parts of the motherboard that most software programs do not monitor.
Temperature Units: Celsius / Fahrenheit
