Long story short. Today I got pretty bored. I’ve been wanting to put my 1090T under dry ice for quite some time now. However, my bench partner has been busy with work so I could not obtain the dry ice pot.
So I was thinking of ways I could cool down my processor, in order to play around with my new 6 core. Since I own a Corsair H50 AIO Watercooling kit, I decided to have some fun.
I hung the radiator in an old lunch cooler and filled it to the brim with ice. I also threw a bit of water i...

The 72-7712 Digital Thermometer from Tenma Test Equipment is a dual thermocouple meter with internal logging capability, USB output for saving logged data and software up-link. This unit can become an integral part of a PC testing arsenal by allowing for isolation of case hot spots, heat sink testing and LN2/Dry Ice work. The limitations start to change and the performance bar can be raised when you know where it is hot and where it is not.
Compatible with K-, J-, T- and E- thermocouples (oth...

Curiosity killed the cat, but will it kill us? I went out and bought the new MX-3 thermal paste from Arctic Cooling. Until the other day, I have always used AS5 (Arctic Silver 5) for my important hardware. However, with all the rave reviews about the new MX-3, I decided to give it a try. Is all the banter about this product really true? I am on a mission to find out once and for all!
MX-3 Packaging:
The MX-3 comes in basic packaging as you can see. The big attention grabber on the package w...

Continuing along from Part #1
A few problems and sprung up that will effect the rest of the tests. The USB Temp monitoring probe is some what slow in response and it shows in some of the graphs. It also appears to be off in reading temps.
The main problem with the temp probe is you can only use the probe they provided with the USB attachment, from what they told me its calibrated to each probe. So I cannot use any other probes that I have here on hand, the readings go way off if I use one of my ...

In the beginning when I first started using different methods of extreme cooling the first unit I tested was a Jinu Single Stage Cooling unit that was custom made for me. This was an amazing cooling unit that included a Single Stage Phase Chiller installed in a TJ07 case.
The TJ07 cooling tower sat next to what I called the main rig which was in another TJ07 case. It had a EVGA 790i SLI motherboard and a QX9770 which ran at 4.8ghz overclock for 24/7 use. It was an amazing machine that had so muc...

Few days ago arrived a new clocking toy. An Intel Core i5 661 CPU with Clarkdale cores. Haven´t tested it on air or water, I moved straight to single stage phase change cooling. Insulated the mobo with kneeded rubber, mounted the cooling and started to play.

Chew*, a prominent TechREACTION community member, has used an old Prometeia Mach 1 phase-change cooling system to take a new budget Athlon II X2 255 CPU to it’s limits! Chew* wanted to show what the average user could achieve with this chip, and while Chew* is anything but average when it comes to tweaking, he did his best to dumb his results down for the rest of us.
Starting with aircooling, he was able to net some impressive results. However, the real treat was when he slapped ...

What is the best attribute of a mouse? For me it is all about feel! If it does not feel right, I don’t care if it can take out the trash or even walk the dog, it is trash! Razer hit the nail on the head with the LACHESIS, for me the feel along with the tight crisp action makes this mouse a winner.
Let me define my comfort, first and foremost is weight, this mouse has it. In a comparison with some brand name and generic mice it is on the heavy side of the scale for wired and approaching the...

Resident Overclocker Chew* has been busy in his lab again today, and this time he has more than a few treats for us. First up is his review the Kingston Hyper-X KHX2000C8D3T1K3/3GX triple-channel memory kit. He purchased the kit retail from Newegg as an inexpensive set for use in benching, but what he got was more than he had bargained for. While the kit itself proved to be a solid performer, however the real surprise came as he was finishing up his testing.
Chew* decided to make a late ni...

Well boredom has set in so to keep me occupied and out of trouble I have decided to go for Super PI world record with only a water cooling setup. Now you may say ‘Duke you are crazy it is only water cooled while the big boys are using LN2 and Cascades which makes you extremely outmatched.’ To you is say, buy me that stuff and you will see what I can do with the best. Plus, I will give you a shout out in my blog and be glad to link your site/blog/forum posts or hell, I will even link ...
