Hey great news....it was recently discovered that the three high speed models (AP-29 AP-30 and AP-31) have the PWM controller hidden inside

The AP-15's were not replaced; they are just constantly out of stock due to excessive demand for them.

Scythe, did attempt to replace them with a newer Fan model that ran at 2150RPM; but this GT was discontinued, and they kept running with the AP-15's instead.

However, there is rumor that Scythe might, bring back the 2150's but at the present time, they are not available anywhere.

    The AP-15's are still available.

The current model Number on them is D1225C12B5AP-15 ... my original post shows it starting without a "D"... so its still very much the same fan, they just added a "D" to the model number; and nothing on the Scythe-USA website says anything about it being Discontinued.

In order to get them though, you have to be VERY patient, and wait for them to become available In-Stock ...

I've subscribed to the email notifications on the Stock Alerts at Performance-PC's; FrozenCPU, and Jab-Tech cause I want to order 2 more myself now!

The AP-15 alone, is the MOST, in-demand Fan in the ENTIRE world, quite literally.

The catch is, Scythe does not manufacture these!

They are manufactured by the Nidec Servo Corp. in Japan, whom Scythe buys them from and then rebrands/repackages under the Scythe USA name...

    http://www.nidec-servo.com/en/new_pop-1.html

Earlier this year, Nidec was forced to shut down a number of their manufacturing facilities and corporate office branches, through out Japan, following the March 11th Earthquake and Tsunami disaster.

They reopened all facilities and offices shortly after wards, but obviously the disaster caused a serious back log for them, as well as causing a severe economic hit for all of Japan in general.

So, the fans being so In-Demand, and the fact that the manufacturer constantly has a back log on producing them, means they're often out of stock every where and people just have to be patient.

I waited, almost 3 months to get my first ones.

This is where I ordered my first 2 from, and shipping from UK to Atlanta, GA/USA was cheap and I had them in about 7 days!

They did NOT provide any Cable Sleeving option, and price per fan was about $20 plus shipping from UK to US.
