And....why do I love this so much?

Nah, only the fx-8xxx is "worth" getting of the bulldozers. Phenom II x4/x6 puts the lower core versions to shame.

    OCZ Vertex 2

If you live near a Microcenter I beleive the 2500Ks are down to $150.

Also $200 will get you a really good mobo.

$200 on AMD SHOULD get you a flagship model 990FX, unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. I wonder how much of the inflated price is SLI licensing.

I would gladly give up SLI for a great 990FX board costing an affordable amount
Beer drinking is like finger painting. When you are young, you do not care what you stick your fingers into as long as you got to do it. When you are older, eww Heineken? I really want a beer that comes from the factory skunked?

Just Fried Electronics and Beast Buy Too bad. Fry's could use some competition

The 2400k is $150. $180 for the 2500k is a steal too tho! Gonna keep that in mind.

I hear you on the Mobos. I'd love a 990. There's an ASUS and a Gigabyte MoBo for $150 on the EGG. The ASUS is an EVO. Good enough for me

edit: No, wait. There's a Gigabyte and an ASRock that are 990FX. The ASRock is $140.
