So my cousin asked me to build her a computer.
I said I could do it for about $400, but it would not be a gamer. For about $150 more, it would be...
So I picked up the Athlon II x4 640 special on newegg, For $240, added a second 4GB stick of ram for another $20 (tax and shipping brought it to $298). (760G board IIRC... includes case and a cheap PSU.. branded Rosewill, but I delved deep and found the real maker and its a coffee can).
the +$150 gamer price includes a better PSU and a $100 video card. Probably my 6850.
Searched around for a monitor for a while...
Finally settled on an LG EW224T
This brings the price OVER the $400 she gave me.
I have 2 choices. Ask her for the extra money and give her the 1080P monitor, or give her my best monitor which is a 22" 1680x1050 unit. Also an LG. (LG226WTQ).
I might not receive the new monitor until after the promised Saturday time frame (tracking number received still no info). I just figured this monitor was worth about (used) the remaining money (minus a pack of smokes or so) hey I like perks.
I had no used parts to give her for this build, so its entirely purchased new.
(I checked used parts on forums and Ebay and newegg had the best deals even with tax, wow, no wonder my stuff sells fast, I price it good)
I would have used a different PSU and case, but would have had to spend about $150 more just for a web browser machine with same specs!!! (with a ath2 quad and 2x2GB or RAM)
$240 included everything but a monitor (and a second channel of RAM)
