Hello, this past week I have been trying to overclock my i5 750 but I'm having trouble trying to find stability when following Miahallen's oc'ing guide for Lynnfield. I assume the problems lays beyond my ram. I had the stupid idea to buy a set of 16gb ram from Patriot, 2x8gb 1866 10-11-10-30 to run some vms. I have been getting freezes during IBT where the screen goes into blurred lines, and various bsod codes including 0x124, 0x0A, 0x1A, 0x9C, 0x50 and 0x7E including vcore bsod codes. All the different errors happened trying different bios configs to try to find something stable.
Before trying to oc I tested stock speed cpu with 3 passes with IBT and 2 on memtest, but I really can't call them stable by running them those few times, can I?
Then I started following the 3 step guide by Miahallen, during the guide I realized that my temps were kind of high for having a 212+ so I decided to clean it and change its thermal paste.
Starting with bclk I accomplished to reach 220x14 with and IMC of 1.23125v. I tried 230 but it won't even boot. After finding my max bclk I sought for memory stability. With XMP on I tested with memtest on a usb stick 1760 mhz at a vram of 1.5v. Then I tested the same but with 9-11-9-29 clock on IBT 3 passes and memtest 2 or 1 passes. It actually takes more than 1 hour to test each one of them. Then I kept lowering the timmings testing only with memtest until I reached 9-9-8-18.
So I reached step 3. But when I started going up with the mhz I started getting the errors. I realized that I can't boot with more than 1760mhz on the memories and depending on the multi or bclk I can't even get 1500mhz. So I was always booting with 1200-1440mhz. I kind of always lose stability when finishing the second run of IBT because it will return a wrong number, and sometimes I get BSOD after finishing the first pass. I tried IBT at 200*20 with a lot of mixes of IMC and vcores, but it fails IBT.
Now I'm at 3.6Ghz, 180*20 with 1.275vcore at bios and 1.28 at cpuz, 1.23125 imc and 1.5vdimm. All bios power saving options on and 1444 mhz ram 9-9-9-24-219-1T (auto) and I passed 3 IBT at 70C.
I realized I'm able to boot my memories at 1866mhz with vram on auto but they get 1.7/1.8v so I set it on manual at 1.5 again. Also tried disabling all power saving features playing with load line calibrationt that is set on auto.

My config is:
i5 750 Batch# L938B128 with a CM 212+ and mx-2
Asus p7p55d deluxe
Patriot viper 2x8GB 1866 PV316G186C0K
5870 reference + 5850 extreme
Gskill ssd 60gb + 2tb wd green + 1.5tb seagate barracuda
CM UCP700W
CM HAF 932
New windows 7 ultinate 64bits configured for the ssd.

Sory if my English is bad or if I forgot to write something. This is my first time overclocking.

I am retired and have a couple of desktops. I got a laptop last year for use when caravanning, I tow our caravan. I now use the laptop all the time and will be looking to upgrade as I am now building a route in Trainz.
I also enjoy scuba diving although I only do it in the UK, mainly the south coast, I also have an underwater camera but am only a novice at it.

Hi

I'm looking for the most stable video card for one of our company's encoder. Processing power doesn't matter but stability does.

I have seen the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, which is installed right now, act very weird (pink artifacts all over the screen, sometimes freezing Windows, sometimes recovering), and though much of it may be because of a bad driver version (296.10), I have decided that gamer cards are not suited for a mission critical workstation.

How is Matrox reputation these days?

If they try to have you turn them in - Just say NO!

If they come to your door asking - Just say NO!

They can not get the illegal gun owners, drug dealers, gang bangers and criminals to stop saying NO! But they want the law abiding gun owning citizens to say YES!

A new revolution! A new way! Just say NO! They can tax you through your employer! They can tax your car and your home or try to take them/prevent you from using them. They can...
The fact is the power is with the people and always has been.

JUST SAY NO! They cannot arrest America!
"I wish there was just ONE little black box that would allow an IT Admin to connect any kind of hard drive to it, so there's no need to crack open a computer system, mess with BIOS settings or waste time trying to move GBs over slow USB 2.0... Meet the focus of this review, IcyDock's MB981U3N-1SA USB 3.0 2.5/3.5" SATA & IDE hard drive adaptor. IT Admin's are going to like this...."
"At the heart of this 158mm tall heatsink are four 8mm diameter copper heatpipes and a 120mm, 68CFM fan. The heatpipes are all exposed at the base while the aluminum fin stack is pretty standard; there aren't any fancy leading edges, punched out cooling fin patterns or unnecessary plastic fan shrouds. The 120mm fan rotates at 1800-1300RPM and moves upwards of 68CFM through the heatsinks' 112x130mm fin stack. "
