    Enigma8750's Review

    The ST0005U
Thermaltake BLACX eSATA & USB Docking Station

Well its Hot Swappable to a Degree. If you use it with the USB cable you get Hot Swappable but you also get slower USB 2.0 Speeds. The E-Sata is alot faster but you have to Restart the system to get the Computer to access the Drive in E-SATA.

Also if you Connect it E-Sata it may also Read the Disks MBR and Start windows with that HDD if you are testing another Hard drive so it is Recommended to leave it in USB 2.0 Mode or Go into the Bios and choose your Main Hdd as the boot disk or you may be surprised at what you find..

One thing they don't tell you is that the weight of this Docking station is about as much as a 3.5 inch HDD. It has very nice rubber feet on the bottom of it to keep it from slipping around the desk so the Unit stays put where you place it and it is not a cheap empty box as I expected.

This Eject Button is also no lightweight cheap plastic button.. It takes a few pounds of pressure to depress this button and it slides easily and doesn't hang at all.

The BLACX has great Curb appeal and looks great on a desk, especially at night where the HDD Power and the Activity lights are Pulsing.

I was very surprised with the overall level of quality found in every part of this Unit's design and even the wires that come with it.

The Packaging was as well thought out as the Unit itself. Everything was covered with plastic and packed very carefully.

As you have seen from the beginning of this Review I have been very happy and impressed with the Thermaltake HDD Docking Station.

    Pros.
    High quality ABS Plastic Construction
    Quality feel and components.
    Wires are High Quality
Works right out of the box. (Plug and Play)
    Silent Running.
Lights and unit is very nice looking
Hot Swappable for USB 2.0 connections.

    Cons.
Slightly High Price but worth it.
    Not eSata Hot Swapable
eSata Mode the computer could boot from this disk.
