4-4-4 RAM will kill you no need to spend on it for such an old system IMHO also with no OC ability on the board you cant adjust the FSB and thus 800 will not be as effective IMHO.

Best/cheapest solution is another 2GB of 667 like you are running now. It will run you about $25 new, less for used.


If you can you will want to go with a 45nm CPU for lower power consumption and thus less heat.

Been doing the research and since you have the 02 version of the board you may be limited to a dual core (some people are saying other wise...). which is fine I would suggest the fastest dual you can put in it within your price range.

E8xxx series processors still cost a pretty penny but you can find them between $50 and $70 used. The increased cache and BUS speed alone will be an improvement not to mention the faster CPU speed overall.

NOTE: the latest BIOS out from Dell came out way later than the 45nm BIOS update for your boards OEM (Foxconn). If you use the Foxconn BIOS you will lose your SLIC so Vista will not be able to activate with the Dell product key. However most users are saying the 530 (02 rev board you have) supports the E8000 series CPUs, so you should be good to go, I would update the bios if necessary BEFORE disassembling the PC.


A decent PSU in the 350-450W range will run you about $50 new. Again slightly lower for used. Look for forum deals where someone bought too small a PSU for their system It will take a standard PSU (ATX format) the only issue will be the length. A uATX PSU is not as long. there is space in the case for a normal length PSU though, you just might have some issues connecting up your optical drive AFTER it is installed (in these types of cases I usually pull the wires out front of the case, connect the ODD and then slide it in..)

I would go with a 250/270/280 series card then depending on what replacement PSU you get.

So

1) 2 more GB of 667 RAM. (unless you want to drop more money to get 4GB of 800)
2) New PSU
3) Vid card

then as needed

4) CPU

The guy call back and he explain for what i should look out for and i also have a budget $30 - $40 for the psu and it will be a name brand and i saw a few that i really like but i will sleep on it and i will buy it from amazon.com..........why?............well i shop there time to time and if i have a problem with amazon.com or the seller they will look into it and investigated and if the seller caught rip of the consumer the will get a warning/suspension and after that terminating from using and selling on amazon.com because they act in a way like ebay.com

amazon is a good seller. Newegg is also although their prices have not been so friendly as of late, you can still find a good deal there.
