From what I have seen with Dell PC's they are tough to upgrade as dell makes parts to fit their systems. This may have changed as of late, who knows ...

is that your case?
Also, what kind of budget are you working with here?

What power supply wattage.
People that buy OEM systems think Linux was a Charlie Brown character, a registry is something you see at target to buy shower gifts, RAM is a Dodge truck and a hard drive is DC at rush hour.
Current Active Fleet:
Daily Driver - Phenom II X4 @ 3.6, 8GB Ram, 890GX GFX Bedroom PC - Athlon II X4 @ 3.6, 8GB Ram, 790GX GFX
Entertainment Room HTPC & Madia/File Server - Pentium G6950 @ 3.5, 4GB Ram, On Chip GFX Living Room HTPC - i5 661 @3.7, 10GB Ram, 6770 GFX
Entertainment Room Cinema - Brazos E350, 4GB Ram, On Chip GFX (Projector) Game Rig - i5 2500K @ 4.5, 12GB Ram, 465GTX + 9800GT (PhysX) using intel SRT

The motherboard will support up to a core2quad and 8 GB of 800 MHz DDR2.
If it is the case that Duke posted you will be limited to low profile video cards. Last one I picked up was a 6570. Great card but not sufficient for any serious gaming. If a regualr desktop case any PCIE card should work barring physical size limitations.
All of that will be limited as Archer mentioned by the power supply used. Most large companies build a PC to the exact specification that the purchaser ordered.
that is they will physically change the mother board so it will not support a better CPU or remove expansion slots so that extra memory or video cards will not be accessible unless you paid their exhorbinant "upgrade" costs. But most importantly, they put a PSU in that will handle the system exactly as is with little to no room to spare, especially down the road as cap aging takes effect and components require more power to run and PSUs provide less power.
All in all, I would say that upgrading everything to make it useful for a little longer would be a waste of money unless you can get 775 parts for a really good price, and it would be cheaper to purchase the few components need to get a better system up and running that has upgrade ability in the future.

Hello there.
I say double the memory, that will improve your experience more than most things.
Also if you do need a larger power supply (due to upgrading the video card or processor) that may be a challenge.
Dell uses nonstandard psu's for some of its thin/matx computers.
Also welcome to TechReaction Harold!

Can you give us a model number?
At this point I think a 6670 and memory along with an SSD would do you. A CPU is a potential as well.

250 Watt DC Power Supply
Backup battery: 3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell
Perhaps a 6670 at the most (that may kill the PSU though); a core 2 duo, memory and an SSD. You are looking at a few hundred bucks right there.
How much are you looking to spend?

2GB of memory should be plenty for XP and going dedicated graphics card will also speed up the system as it wont be shared with the IGP.
I think updating to a core2 CPU would also provide a much better overall experience.
SSD I would only look at it IF you are going to upgrade the HDD anyway because it is only a 40 or 80GB model.
Even a 500GB HDD would be a nice improvement over some of the schlock they slap into package pcs. they are not just larger but much faster as well.

250W..........?????.......I thought i have 300W because i have a pentium dual core because search the model of the PSU
My PSU:bestec atx0300d5wb rev x3
and i got this
Bestec 300W ATX0300D5WB ATX-0300D5WB Rev X3 Dell Replacement Power Supply Part Number XW601 XW600 XW599
i even check
Dell Inspiron 530 Power Supply
which they sell oem dell parts and ask for how much well i want to concentrated on getting a video card and down the road i might add LED light inside the frame because there are vent and i will put it next to because the blue light from the turn on button is cool

Well then the that 300 bestech will not do 300 for very long but a full system build up with the 6770 should only burn about 210-220 watts at full load.
A 6670 will allow for gaming as well but with lower quality.

What about nvidia ?
Because i really HATE Ati card that is just me but um i e-mail " EVGA and Galaxy "
EVGA response
Harold, If you power supply has atleast 18 amps on the 12v rail your best bet would be a 210. If it has 22 or more amps on the 12v rail you could use a 430 or 520. Regards, Matthew
Galaxy response
Hi,
The following card is compatible with your system,
8400gx
GT210
GT220
GT240
GT430
GT520
Warm regards,
So i have pretties much an option but i want a system that i can upgrade little by little starting from the video card also one last notes i check my windows rating is when from a 1.0 to 3.4 i also check

They are faster than what you have listed.
Take a look at this chart: Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart : Best Graphics Cards For The Money: November 2011
I am not saying do not get nVidia but those cards you have listed are, well; weak.
EDIT: Does your power supply have a 6 pin PCIE connector?

Nvidia pulls too much juice. More than the ATI Equelivant. I would say a 5770 and Max your ram and see if you have the fastest ram that your motherboard can handle. Sometimes they will put 667 ram in a Motherboard that can handle 800 speed. Remember.
If you have 32 Bit Operating System then 3.25 gb will be fine. The trick is to get good ram. Faster timings. Even the same ram has better timing ram available if you check. The timings will look like this 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15
