Memory is quieter than a HDD, having too much will also help the HDD spin down (hopfully saving power). I also have a 8 Gig Patriot USB flash drive in a USB 3.0 Slot.
My CPU temp is 2º cooler and I assume this is from the controllers not running (Chipset) and HDD being cooler but I still have a bit of testing to do.
