The European Commission on Wednesday fined Intel a record 1.06 billion euros, or about $1.45 billion, for abusing its dominance in the computer chip market to exclude longtime rival AMD.

Yea, they are pissed. I can't really sympathize as they certainly have the doe, but will they actually be doing anything to break up Intel as a monopoly (as they seem to have deemed it to be)?

they can't do much since Intel is a US company but they can fine it, which they did. question is will they funnel this money to AMD to make up for the damages it withstood, or will the EU simply pocket the money? lets see if they really want to help AMD or simply throw sand in Intel's gears to give the Euro companies a boost...

If it is like everything the victim gets squat and the money goes to a fund for some BS, but with this in mind AMD might file suit for compensatory damages. Civil and criminal don't mix gut evidence does let us remember OJ, not guilty but financially liable?

Sorry know this post is old. But sending reps out to companies. Phoning them up a couple of days later, checking up on them months later to see hows it going. Is that Unfair business or excellent customer relationship and a thing a customer looks for? They made a decision yet without listening to the small compilers why they really preffered Intel
