China-based Lenovo, the world's fourth-largest PC maker, and NEC, Japan's number one PC supplier, are rumored to be talking about a collaboration that would boost both of their presence in the PC market.

The potential joint venture formed by the two companies is expected to give Lenovo the opportunity to grow its business in Japan and allow NEC to tap into the growing Chinese market. Apparently Lenovo is considering taking a majority stake in NEC's PC unit, but nobody is talking on the record so it's all rumor until a deal is announced.
