    Old School PC gaming

I played CS once upon a time, I think COD is better, at least since 2.

Most games are not the same though. GFX has improved but like movies, content has taken a wayside. There are exception to the rule that newer is suckier... bioware is a good example.

I have recently ran through Vampire (both games) even though the first game came out in 2001. Yeah the GFX were lame by todays standards but were decent enough if the game came out 5 years ago not 10 like it did.

Bloodlines is more popular, (2004 game?) but I like the original better. Latter has more choices and is a better RPG, but... Christoff is who I play as in all games though. The troubled do good always guy. (am going to try being a malkavian at least once in bloodlines though )

Kotor/kotor2 did not make the recent install because of space issues. Traditional favorites. Got my son hooked on that until he got stuck on the pod racing.. sucks he gets frustrated more than I do.

I also started playing Magic Duels of the planeswalker because my son found my old magic cards. Totally great game if you never played hte card game. still fun otherwise, only problem is you cant customize your deck besides the sideboard (which is like competitions.. but sucks cuz we used to play all the time, and built some incredible decks)

(nice game and works on SSD good too since it is under 500MB with all 3 DLCs.. visually pretty as well, much better than original though I have not played the original magic PC game in uh.. 10 years?)

Of course must mention Neuromancer... although I never finished that. It reminded me of the old text adventures except it had a gui. You can still find it online.

Yes I was surrounded by Leisure suit Larry and kings quest 1-7 growing up... (GUI wise). Before that ELIZA and the original "adventure" (was the windy maze confusing because it went all over or because the wind was blowing... who can tell!)

    LOL

Oh the enchanter series hell yeah... didn't do Zork but of course that must get mentioned (I did play it)

Countless hours wasted on Bombardier too (although that game had like 100 names... )

What are you favorite games, even if they are not from this millennium?

Well I liked JANES when they wore the EA brand. WWII fighters and Fighters Anthology were pretty much it for me in the 90s. I did play some Unreal and UT as well Diablo also. I then moved to the Il2 series and then tried Lock On (sucked) but from there games faded for me and I transitioned to pure multimedia.

Most new games suck. They look great and are wild at first but playability has gone out the window.

Oh; I may still play some of the new old style stuff. CnC, DnD (BG type) Sim City style and Might and Magic Style. Some of these other games just dont catch my eye.

Simulation games and builders were my original favorites, along with RTS. Total Annihilation, Warcraft II, Sim City, Sim Tower, Rollercoaster Tycoon...all classics I loved back in the day.

I started with FPS' of course, such as Mechwarrior II, Unreal, Doom II and Jedi Knight, but I was never very good at them at that age.

I was pretty much always a tactical shooter gamer myself. That said I fully back the Duke's mention of SWAT.

I never played any of the SWAT games myself. I was into Counter-Strike of course, like everybody else in my generation.

    Thumbs up

For me old school was the Tank game that I used to play on my Commodore 64. It was just line tracing and shapes and no back ground except more green Ray Tracing.. I played that game for hours and loved ever minute. I used to think to myself while I played what would it be like to be able to play this game with realistic backgrounds and tanks. BF2 gave me that dream much later on..
