Got to love the holidays! Good food, good friends, and hopefully good tech support from BFG. My 280 has started to show all the wonderful signs of a dying card. Play a map or 2 here and there and it locks up the computer turning my screen into a wide array of multi colored boxed. Then once the reality sets in of what just happened I hit the reset button and try to go on with my life. Losing a card as fine as this one is sort of like not getting the last cookie on the plate or getting drilled in the ‘boys’ playing dodge ball. I tried to act like everything was OK and tried ignoring the fact that i could only play 2-3 maps of a game before I was destined to crash. The sad reality is though that this card can no longer handle what I need it to do. I mean the only humane thing to do is just strip it from the system and send it on its way to BFG tech support.

Hopefully once it arrives at BFG tech support they take as good of care of it as I have over the years. Find it a nice place in the GFX graveyard where it could possible overlook a nice tree or flower to keep it company. Heck, they could even put this card on a pedestal in the shop to keep their heads high because they made such a fine product. I would have to say it is a close 2nd to the great 8800GT of all time great cards. Biased? Maybe. Correct? Possibly. Either way it was a game altering experience you installed that 280. Features in the games came alive like you never seen before. It was like a great acid trip with all the vibrant colors that were once hidden from view.

So today, I start my disassembling of part. The draining of the water cooled setup. The wait to see if BFG will just send me a new card or tell me its been deactivated and try to give me some unreasonable dollar figure to make up for it. Or maybe, just maybe, they will upgrade me to a newer 2 series card and tell me happy holidays! (we can dream can’t we?)

So now all the eyes are on you BFG tech suppport, as I will be watching and waiting and most certainly blogging about how you go about your business. So in reality you are being graded and this time more than just your single customer will know about it. Did you treat me the way a customer should be treated? We shall find out! Did you actually fix my card or just do a cheap replacement of a part that will break down a few days later? We shall find out!

So here is to you BFG tech support, in hoping you do a good job and keep your satisfied customer, well, satisfied!
