[Review] OCZ Vertex 3 240GB MAX IOPS2 Comments By NeuromancercloseAuthor: NeuromancerName: Rich Smith Email: rsmith@nettronic.net Site: About:See Authors Posts (27) on August 1, 2011
OCZ Technology has made enormous strides in the SSD technology field since throwing the company whole-heartedly into NAND flash storage solutions. Their latest SATA 6Gb iteration is the Vertex 3 MAX IOPS edition. We have on the test bench the 240GB model, featuring the super-fast SandForce 2200 storage controller and 256GB of 32nm Toshiba Toggle Mode Double DATA Rate NAND Flash.
The specifications on the drive are very beefy. Sporting a 550 MBps max read speed, as do many of the other OCZ SATA 6...

Introduction:
Solid State Drives are becoming faster and faster. With the advent of the SandForce controller, drives quickly started maxing out the capabilities of the SATA 3 Gbps interface. A quick fix was doubling the speeds SATA operates at and along came SATA3 operating at 6Gbps. Most motherboards have included SATA3 ports for about a year now, although only since P67 have they been native solutions on Intel motherboards. For AMD, SATA 6Gbps has been natively supported since SB850 debuted, h...

Introduction:
Solid State Drives are known for there incredible access times and massive sustained write speeds. A single SandForce controller-based SSD can push the limits of the SATA II interface. This leads to faster Windows boot times, application loading and a snappier desktop feel. OCZ Vertex 2 drives were among the first to bring the SF-1200 to the enthusiast community and have received numerous commendations as a result. The OCZ Vertex 2 60GB review was enough to make this reviewer take ...

Recently the good folks at OCZ sent us out another set of budget minded RAM to review. This particular set is interesting due to the fact that it is an 8GB kit, but not the commonly found 4×2GB combinations that we typically see in enthusiast forums. This particular set is opposite in the sense that it’s just two modules, each of 4GB density for a total of 8GB, allowing for the possibility of up to 16GB should a user so choose. Based on the rather conservative specs of CL9-9-9 and 133...

I got bored the other day and started looking at SSD’s with their read/write speeds and got to thinking. Yes, when I get bored and start thinking, it can be scary, especially to my bank account. However, for once, I had everything I needed to satisfy my curiosity and my bank account is grateful! Let’s get this show on the road … Shall we?
Why Bother?
This is a good question, and hopefully, I can answer that. From my perspective and from how I set my systems up, I have always ha...

Solid State Drives are quickly becoming an important upgrade in most consumer PCs. They offer increased performance with decreased power consumption and heat, and are smaller and lighter than standard mechanical drives. All solid state drives are not created the same however, and OCZ has proven that once again. Our review sample is a 60GB Vertex2 extended capacity SSD, part number OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G. It utilizes the Sandforce SF-1200 controller and it’s specifications can be found here. It i...
[Blog] College-Kid’s-Budget Gaming PC Building – Things to Avoid and Things to Adore Like Your First Pony10 Comments By TheDramaLlamacloseAuthor: TheDramaLlamaName: Alvin Yan Email: ayan6@gatech.edu Site: About:See Authors Posts (2) on June 30, 2010
Hello, everyone! My name is Alvin (a.k.a. TheDramaLlama) and I’d like to poke fun at all the old… er, say hi to everyone here at TechREACTION.
For my first blog, I’m going to do a rough overview on budget PC building. No, not your run-of-the-mill budget PC building, I’m writing about college-kid’s-budget gaming PC building, since college kids like me belong to a fantastic little niche, filled with people in situations I like to describe as, “Mommy, I have no...

Recently the good folks at OCZ sent us a set of budget ram to review.
Now I know most of you hardcore overclocker’s are saying “pfft…” however, with budget RAM sometimes and often many times there can be found diamond’s in the rough.
With that said, let’s see what you get.
As we can see, the packaging is simple as to be expected with a budget set of memory.
The platform we chose to test these sticks today consists of the following.

[Blog] The Larger side of Gaming Mice: OCZ Behemoth6 Comments By KrabcloseAuthor: KrabName: Larry Ngo Email: graveflame@gmail.com Site: About:See Authors Posts (9) on May 14, 2010
The OCZ Behemoth is one of the larger mice on the market. It’s large design makes it rather intimidating, but it’s one of the best mice for a certain market niche.
This mouse is specifically designed for right handed users only. That means all you lefties are completely excluded from using this mouse. You’ll either have to deform your hand or attempt to cope with it, but really, just avoid this mouse altogether if you are. As you can see, the packaging is rather big. The conte...
OCZ PC3 12800 Black Edition Memory By Chew*0 Comments By EnJoYcloseAuthor: EnJoYName: Alex Joy Email: alex@techreaction.net Site:http://www.techreaction.net About:See Authors Posts (53) on December 23, 2009
Chew* is back at it with a new review of some AMD Black Edition optimized memory from OCZ Technology. This memory comes in two varieties, CAS7 and also CAS8, and is rated for 1600MHz @ 1.65v. What differentiates these kits from other kits with the same speeds and timings are that they come packed pre-loaded with special SPD profiles, only for AMD Phenom II Black Edition processors! What this enables the user to do is load up their AMD OverDrive utility, load the Black Edition memory profil...

My last OC Report just over a month ago was on a kit of memory I referred to in a review as the Goliath of memory from the first testament. This OC Report isn’t about some mere biblical fairy tale character, it is an all out Greek myth. Except this Greek hero isn’t some weak PC3-16000 kit of memory – ‘rolls eyes’ – this kit is straight from the top of mount Olympus. Hanging out with the Greek mythological gods, these sticks put Hermes and his winged shoes ...

It feels like a lifetime ago that I did my last OC Report and in this industry, it pretty much has been. Well unfortunately for you, my almost 100% completely healed white ass is back, and I have brought some toys. OCZ has always been a name most of us here recognize but one that seems to have fallen off the radar at the upper end of the benching circles as of late. Maybe it is just me but I don’t hear OCZ anymore in the uber benching threads. With high performance i7 triple channel k...
OCZ PC3-12800 1600LVAM4GK AMD Optimized Kit Reviewed!11 Comments By ChewcloseAuthor: ChewName: Brian McLachlan Email: wmdieselmc26@cox.net Site:http:// About:See Authors Posts (8) on May 19, 2009
I recently received a specially tuned set of ram for the AM3 platform from OCZ Technology.
What this means is they are guaranteed to work on your AM3 platform and users do not have to buy an extra stick of ram in a 3×2g kit that may or may not work well at rated speeds and or timings.
Essentially, OCZ was nice enough to cater to the AMD crowd and take the guess work out of the equation for AMD users.
The stars of the review.
